'Duh duh duh . . . Pulling a Dahmer'

entry by...roach808     updated...Jun 24, '08     spoilers...none

A timeline of a few days leading up to and the integral days after Jeffrey Dahmer's arrest. It was a different kind of book that I had read on him, giving some different perspective and seemed more confident than another I had read. A good quick read.

Hannibal Lecter. The ultimate villain of modern fiction who scared the world silent. A young FBI trainee. An evil genius locked away for unspeakable crimes. A plunge into the darkest chambers of a psychopath's mind -- in the deadly search for a serial killer . . . An instant classic of chilling psychological suspense . . . a critically acclaimed audio production of unforgettable intensity . . . From the tormenting words of the homicidal maniac Dr. Hannibal Lecter and the flesh-rending depravity of an elusive killer to the sheer courage of a young FBI novice, who risks her life to track him down and stop the bloodshed.

This was a good suspense novel with characters well-fleshed out (my criteria for a suspense-type story).

The main character speaks to you about his attrocities committed as he climbs higher in the buisness world in the 1980's. Great musical references. It's amazing that the author isn't a serial killer.

DH loves all of Bret Easton Ellis's books and insisted I read this. I don't know how I managed to get through this. The graphic violence was just too much for me. This was a really disturbed book.

'My thoughts'

This was a gripping thriller which provided great insight into both the criminal mind and the ways the agents gather clues both physical and emotional. I also liked learning about interrogation tricks. I look forward to reading the sequel, The Face of Death.

Authors first book - brilliant - a really spellbinding read.

Blurb:
They took three days to find the girl: bound to her mother's mutilated corpse, shocked beyond speech.
FBI Agent Smoky Barrett, still reeling from a horrific tragedy of her own, knows that if there's one case she has to take, it's this. Because the girl's mother wasn't just another victim. She was Smoky's best friend.
The killer's first mistake?
Or the first move in a sickening, deadly game?
