'Review'

entry by...MrsRJ     updated...Oct 10, '07     spoilers...n/a

FBI Special Agents Chris Delone and Marc Cullen are on the trail of a diabolical serial killer, known only as “Cutthroat”. With the identity of the bad guy revealed very early on, this is more an action packed, heart stopping detective drama than mystery novel.

The depth of this killer’s depravity is chilling, utilizing modern technology, as well as, chemical substances to incapacitate his victims Cutthroat continues to ratchet up the stakes. The inevitable showdown with detective’s takes a stunning turn, when Cutthroat discovers that the woman he considered his ultimate prey has found sanctuary in the arms of agent Chris Delone. Enraged and on the edge of absolute insanity, the killer simply adjusts his plans to include both Holly and the agent.

Parker writes with distinct voice and stylized action that is exciting and entertaining. A definite no holds barred, gutsy detective novel that takes the reader deep into the psyche of a social deviant that preys on the innocent. Although I would like to see a bit more character development, as individuals, to give the reader the opportunity to become emotionally invested in all aspects of the story, “Look Into The Eyes of Evil” is a good read that sets a solid stage for future installments.

I look forward to reading the entire Badge of Honor series.

Happy Reading !
RJ xx

'Horrible edition'

entry by...roach808     updated...May 10, '07     spoilers...major

While the information in the book was pretty interesting, this edition was an absolutely horrible copy. THere were grammatical, chronologcial, punctuation and capitalization errors.

I'm no English teacher, but it made reading it painful when words were supposed to be mad but said made, and tony wasn't capitalized and the Operator 71, was that and then 21 and then 71 again.

But the worst part was the chronological stuff. There were pictures of Dahmer's victims in the middle with approximate dates of death. Some of these weren't even CLOSE to lining up with the dates in the text. Wtf?

'SPLIT.'

entry by...sorcha     updated...Apr 24, '07     spoilers...n/a

This is the first novel by Tara Moss that I've read. Tara Moss isnt too bad as a crime novelist, although I must admit that crime novels dont generally appear on my "must read" list.

What I disliked: the characters were so...distant! i like to know the characters i'm reading about, but the background information that Moss gave on her characters just wasnt enough for me. Not even the main character was particularly interesting, i never felt any sympathy or understanding for her. there was also so little about the psycho serial killer that half the time i forgot he even existed. And it ended far too quickly! i was two-thirds of the way through the novel when i realised i still felt like i was at the beginning, and then the next thing i know i'm at the epilogue and it's all over.

What I liked: it held my interest enough that i was able to read it on the train and at work to kill time. very easy read, and something quite different to what i'm used to reading.

I will probably read more Tara Moss in future if one of her novels pops up, but I dont think she'll ever become a favourite.

Recommended for people who enjoy watching tv cop-and-crime shows (like CSI and Law & Order).

As always a great, gutsy and terrifying tale. Once I start one of this author's books I just can't put it down.

Blurb:
The beautiful woman appears to be just another corpse in the morgue. But when medical examiner Maura Isles looks down at the body, she gets the fright of her life.
The corpse opens its eyes.
Now very much alive, the woman is rushed to the hospital, where she murders a security guard and seizes hostages, one of whom is the heavily pregnant homicide detective Jane Rizzoli. But who is this woman, and what does she want? Only Jane can solve the mystery - if she survives the night.

This was a gripping thriller which provided great insight into both the criminal mind and the ways the agents gather clues both physical and emotional. I also liked learning about interrogation tricks. I look forward to reading the sequel, The Face of Death.

Authors first book - brilliant - a really spellbinding read.

Blurb:
They took three days to find the girl: bound to her mother's mutilated corpse, shocked beyond speech.
FBI Agent Smoky Barrett, still reeling from a horrific tragedy of her own, knows that if there's one case she has to take, it's this. Because the girl's mother wasn't just another victim. She was Smoky's best friend.
The killer's first mistake?
Or the first move in a sickening, deadly game?
