Wow. I love this book. Edward is just so endearing. I feel like stealing him from the book. Jacob's situation is just so heartbreaking. I also love Alice in the book. Bella is just amazing. The story keeps evovling, it brings out emotions in the reader. I highly recommend this book to fantasy and romance lovers. I cannot wait for Breaking Dawn to be released.

So I started Eclipse last night, I'm already on page 196/Chapter 9. The more and more I read the series, the more and more I prefer Jacob over Edward. And just when I get so aggravated with Edward, he says something so completely romantic that I can't help but go awww again.
Edward is very annoying with how controlling he is over Bella. He won't let her see her best friend, granted he is his mortal enemy...but still. His protectiveness was adorable and romantic in the first book, but now it's just controlling and quite frankly, very unhealthy. He even goes as far as having Alice basically kidnap her so she can't see Jacob while he's gone hunting...it's a little ridiculous.
Oh, and by the way...I've read about how horny Bella is in this book and so far it is true. She is pawing all over Edward in the last bit of Chapter 8.

So I'm up to Chapter 17 now and I've gone back to liking Edward over Jacob. :) Edward softened on the whole controlling thing and is fine with Bella seeing Jacob. So that made me like him more...but at the same time Jacob kissing Bella took points from him. It wouldn't have if he didn't hold her too tightly so she couldn't get away and then continue to kiss her when she just stopped doing anything and waited for him to stop. If he had just snuck a peck in or something, that would have been adorable. But nope, he took it too far. And then he was all smug about it. But then Edward being all protective again was cute again.
I was hoping to finish this book today so I can stop at Shirley's and give it back and borrow the last one. I'm off the next few days and I doubt I'll have gas money to just drive back up this way to swap books again, when I can do it on my way home one day...but it doesn't look like I'll finish it today before I get off work.

I had finished this book like a week ago and started Breaking Dawn, but I never did my final review on it. By the end of the book I liked it...but I could tell that with each book of the series I read the less I liked each book. As in Twilight was my favorite and then I liked New Moon a little less, etc. I still give it a 5 though. :)

It is clear that this series is written for a younger audience. It is readable but hardly great literature. The appeal of having such a devoted love is likely what has driven the book's and the series' popularity.

BLURB
To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella Swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, she has endured a tumultuous year of temptation, loss and strife to reach the ultimate turning point. Her imminent choice to either join the dark but seductive world of immortals or pursue a fully human life has become the thread from which the fate of two tribes hangs.
Now that Bella has made her decision, a startling chain of unprecedented events is about to unfold with potentially devastating and unfathomable consequences. Just when the frayed strands of Bella's life - first discovered in TWILIGHT, then scattered and torn in NEW MOON and ECLIPSE - seem ready to heal and knit together, could they be destroyed. . .forever?

I love the way Stephenie Meyer wrote this series. Breaking Dawn put everything together in the series. It tied up most of the loose ends coming all the way from Twilight. The first half of the book had me a little scared because the author seemed to be beating about the bush a lot. Bella was going though her usual motions of whinning and wondering about been loved. She was also complaining about having the perfect story book wedding which made me roll my eyes a bit. I forsaw that Edward and Bella would finally get down to business after the wedding. I also forsaw that Edward would whine and want to stop because he thought he was hurting Bella and Bella would win the agruement eventually. but I did not predict the outcome of their union. I guess I have to work on my Alice abilities. The second section of the book was told from Jacob's perpective. I initally thought that was not going to work out but it ended up been okay and added a little something different to the book. I also became very interested in Jacob after this. I liked him from the previous books but I loved him in Breaking Dawn. Jacob finally imprinted, I was so glad this was not an ordinary occurance because nothing about Jake has been ordinary so far. Bella finally tranformed. About time. I also loved the conclusion of the book, it was very well written. I just hope the upcoming movies can do the series justice.

This book started off a little weird. But then I think everyone would agree that an 18 year old who gets pregnant to a vampire and pops out a rapidly maturing baby is a little strange. The second part of the book, when Bella is turned, is much better in my opinion.
One thing I felt was disappointing about this book was that the build up to Edward and Bella consummating their relationship (for want of a better phrase) never really reached a climax but fell rather flat and was over in a turn of a page. I do understand that this book is aimed at young teens but with television the way it is these days, I would have thought that Stephanie Meyer would at least describe the moment a wee bit, even if only in cliche metaphors and euphamisms. But then maybe she thought these things were better left to the imagination.
All in all, "Breaking Dawn" is a nice tie up to the "Twilight" series.

I just finished it and I must say, I am conflicted on if I liked how it ended or not. On one hand, who doesn't like a happy ending? Bella ends up getting everything and more that she had hoped for. She gets to spend an eternity with her one true love, Edward. They find out that their daughter will get to spend eternity with them and won't only live like 15 years, that she instead stops aging once she matures. Jacob has imprinted on her, so she gets to keep him around too, without hurting Edward's feelings because she loves him. Her dad is completely fine with her being a vampire as long as he stays on a need to know basis. It's better than losing her all together. It truly is a happy ending. But on the other hand it just seems like everything was tied up a little too neatly. Every single loose end was taken care of and it was kind of like an easy way out. I guess I would prefer the happy ending over anything else she could conjure up though. I think if it had actually ended differently I wouldn't have liked it. The one thing I thought was kind of odd was that in the first book I really felt Edward's love for Bella. And it dwindled for me in the other books, which I guess is why I didn't like them as much as the first one. When Edward came back to her in New Moon, he was just so overprotective of her and mopey and everything, it didn't seem like the same love he had for her prior to that. And then once she became a vampire, maybe it was just that he didn't have as many of those ridiculously sweet and romantic lines for her...all the way up until the very end when Bella found out how to remove her shield and she let him into her mind. You could finally really see the love she had for him and then I felt it again.

I read this book in a day and a half. While the writing isn't great, the story is. I love the character of Edward in this book. I don't get Bella and I think she has odd reactions to most everything. However, it's worth reading to see Edward again.

'Breaking Dawn'

I love this entire series, I read the whole thing in less than a month. It was great to finally get to the last book. Meyer really changed her writing style in this last book, writing from two different characters' perspectives which was actually a nice change of pace. The ending was kind of strange though, there was such a build-up of what you thought was going to happen over the last three books, then the ending came and the story just ended.

This is the first Vincenzi novel that I have read and what a huge one. Over 800 pages! But it was a really good saga read and, as big as it was, I enjoyed it and will read others by her.
Back Cover Blurb:
There was a time when American heiress Virginia Praeger believed that she was destined to be alone. Then she met Alexander, Earl of Caterham, in the Palm Court of the Plaza, and it was love at first sight.
She has a husband who adores her. A palace of a house set in the exquisite English countryside. A successful career as an interior designer and two beautiful daughters and a son.
But Virginia is hiding a dark secret which could destroy them all: each of her three children has a different father. And none of them is her husband, Alexander. How could a 'nice girl' such as Virginia do something like this? How far-reaching will the consequences of her deceit be? And will she and her family survive?

Loved it, of course I'm easily sucked in to romance stories, especially of the vampire variety. Some may see this book as slow to start, but I saw it as simply building the suspense, giving the reader an idea of how Bella felt, not knowing exactly what's going on & such.
I have never before read an author with such a clear grasp on the mentality of an emotionally unstable teenage girl. It was like reading a book about myself, minus the vampires of course...

Hmmmm....
To be honest I don't think this book lived up to all the hype. While I did enjoy the story, it was slow to start, and I feel that the story didn't really pick up until after the baseball game. After that I thought the story was quite exciting.
I do admit that the concepts of this story did appeal to me. The "vegetarian" vampire/human love story was quite sweet, and well developed, and I think that Stephanie Meyer represented the teenage characters very well. I often find that authors try to live up the stereotypes and "trendy-speak" of the "typical" teenager, which at times can draw away from the story. I did feel that some of the characters were quite underdeveloped but it was nothing major.
One aspect of the plot that I felt that Stephanie wrote really well was the intensity of the infatuation Bella fells for Edward. Her deep love for Edward, while somewhat unrealistic, was a very sweet touch to the plot and did really keep my attention.
Definately worth the read, but not one of my favourite... the movie was pretty good though.

This author writes good, Liverpool-saga type novels. Easy to read - have read a lot of her work and enjoy each one.
Back Cover Blurb:
Maddy Kiernan knows her situation is desperate. With her parents dead, her brother Thomas is left as guardian to Maddy and her sister Carmel. But Thomas has plans that don't include his sisters and if he gets his way his reckless ambition could put all their futures at risk. Sharp-witted and strong-willed, Maddy knows it is she who must assume responsibility for the fragile young Carmel.
When Thomas deserts Ireland for Liverpool, Maddy realises she has little option but to follow. Within days the girls are destitute, reduced to living in a cellar, their precious savings gone. Even when Maddy finds a position with an elderly widow, Thomas's aspirations threaten their security. And then Maddy is faced with a terrible choice - between the sailor she's fallen in love with and a promise she made to her capricious employer, on whose goodwill she and her family all depend. Can she make the right decision and still watch over her lovely, vulnerable sister? Or must she once again sacrifice her own happiness for the sake of those she loves?

Once again a lovely saga-type novel by this author based in Liverpool during WW2.
Back Cover Blurb:
For Mary Callaghan marriage has brought heartaches and disappointment. But with it have come joys, the greatest of which are her daughters. And what Mary wants most for her girls is what she never had - a husband who will offer the security her own hard-drinking, free-spending, brash-talking Jack denied her.
But when Daisy confesses she's pregnant, Mary knows the future looks grim, for the father, rough, irresponsible Sam O'Grady, makes it clear that marriage is a prison from which he's determined to escape. As Nell watches her sister sink into bitter poverty she begins to question her mother's belief in the sanctity of the vows that bind Daisy into misery. And as the world around her grows more uncertain, with war more likely by the day, risking all for love seems to Nell a foolish game. Especially when a marriage based on mutual respect and financial security seems to be presenting itself - along with the prospect of the child for which Nell so desperately longs....
