Well this is a collection of Edgar Allan Poe's short stories and poetry. Have to admit, because I wouldn't be the biggest poetry fan in the world, I did decide to skip past the poetry section and commence with the short stories.

Interesting I must admit. but not exactly what I expected. Not so much horror as an insight into a weird and wonderful world full of very strange people.

Okay, yeah this was kind of a random whim on my part and I loved it! This was so good, it could very well be plausible. This is a humor book that seems to be written in all seriousness. I can say that I now fill comfortable if and when a zombie attack happens. It was very entertaining. A very good book for a casual read.

This is the first Laymon book that I've read and quite enjoyed it. Bit gruesome but a quick read. I will be reading more of his books.

Back Cover Blurb:
Visitors flock to see the Beast House with its blood-soaked corridors and creaky doors. Armed with Instamatics and video camcorders, these poor souls enter the forbidden house never to return. The deeper the tourists go into the house, the darker their nightmares become. The men are dealt with quickly. The women have to wait longer....first they are tortured and sexually ravished.
But the worst part of the house is actually beneath the haunted structure. There lies even a more terrifying presence waiting for its next victim. Don't even think about going into ...The Cellar.

'My thoughts'

Although some of the scenes and dialogue in "The Attraction" were clichéd, I liked the overall story of teenagers lost in the desert confronting an ancient monster. I also liked the second story, "Necromancer," especially how the narrator discovers the truth about his twin's death.

I love this horror author's books - I don't think I have ever read a bad one of his.

Back Cover Blurb:
There's something in the attic of Fortyfoot House. Something that rustles. Something that scampers. Something with fur, that scratches and gibbers. But it isn't a rat.
It's something far, far more terrifying than a rat.
David Williams, recently divorced, takes a job restoring a dilapidated Victorian orphange on the Isle of Wight, with his young son Danny. But why is Fortyfoot House so shunned and feared by the islanders? What is the strange mystery about which no one dares speak? Too late David learns of the hideous secret spawned in the vermin-infested warrens of Dr Barnardo's London - one that threatens his child, his life, his very sanity.....

This horror book is another good one by this great horror author. I don't think I have ever read a bad book by him and he always manages to give me that good shiver down the spine. A good chiller.

Back Cover Blurb:
New York City. Friday night. Untouched by anything visible, Mrs Greenberg's furniture starts to slide across the room - and however hard she tries, Mrs Greenberg can't move it back.
Harry Erskine, self-taught fortune-teller, agrees to investigate - but soon realises that Mrs Greenberg's moving furniture is just the beginning of a nightmare, for it is being drawn by the same inexorable force which drags us all to the grave.
City by city, America is on the brink of falling into the abyss - women and children, streets and buildings - one and all brought thundering and screaming into the dominion of the dead.....

This started off ok and then it started to get boring until in the end I just threw it to the wall. I have got others by him and I hope they get better.

And though Kirsten may seem like any other child, she suffers from an extraordinary illness, one that without her medication can unleash a bizarre and deadly trail of horror.
Nikki Reed knows too well what the ominous knock on the front door means - the loan sharks want their money back, and if they don't get it, they're going to get nasty. But Nikki and her husband Jeff can't pay,,,,until Nikki's brother John comes up with a dangerous and high-risk scheme that could make them all rich.
All desperate people running out of time. When their worlds collide, there'll be hell to pay....
