the thing i like about time-travel is the idea that everything is forseeable yet indeterminate and changeable.

i actually liked the characters, despite never really getting to know them - it's not who they are that matters, but merely what happens to them.

i can understand henry's brutality and anger: he was living a life he had absolutely no control over. he was completely and utterly powerless to prevent what had happened, was going to happen and what was happening (because when you're a time traveller all of those things are one and the same) to him at any given time. who wouldnt be pissed at that?

i can also appreciate clare's willingness to "wait" for her henry's return: if i knew a loved one would be "visiting" long after they had passed i'd wait too. when you're a time-traveller there is no death. it's a comforting thought to imagine that everything we ever do in life will be captured as if on film and played on a continuous loop...

at least time will remember us, if no one else.
