I couldn't even finish this book. MAYBE if I was 12 or 13 years old, the book would have interested me, but I'm not and it didn't. The writing was very amateurish and stilted -- really just juvenile.

Really enjoyed this book. Love reading fiction that helps you think more broadly about how you understand God and His interaction with us.

This book is brilliant and gripping. One of her best. Couldn't put it down. A must read.

Benny and her best friend Eve have grown up in Knockglen, a small sleepy town. When they are old enough, their one thought is to get to Dublin, to university and freedom. But it is in Knockglen that Benny and Eve's new friends will find passion, tragedy and the independence they yearn for.

My ex-boyfriend had me read this installment of the series third, but I discovered a few weeks ago the two books preceding it are actually prequels and aren't meant to be read first, and I can totally see why! This book was SO MUCH BETTER, and makes so much more sense as a first book for the series. A real page turner, but I was disappointed about how quickly characters come and go because of the excellerated time line.

I just couldn't put this book down - it's a lovely story. It's set in a small village in the USA in the early 1900's when the church was the centre of the community. The story revolves around a minister and his family, with the various goings-on in the village which affect their lives.

I love a good supernatural series and these books are always fun to read. I really liked that Jamie Vegas was the main character this time. I also enjoyed seeing her relationship with Jeremy start to come together. Looking fwd to the next book!

Synopsis: Ghosts are going insane and going on killing rampages. Harry and Michael, a Knight of the Cross, trace the chaos back to one spirit too powerful to be real—but it is. This “nightmare” is trying to kill off the police force every sunset. As he gets drawn into the political world of vampires, Harry must find the Nightmare’s source before it finds him.

Again, the atmosophere is completely different from the previous two books, but at the same time the series fits together perfectly. More proof of Butcher's talent, he made me absolutely love Michael and his faith, even though I'm not a "religious" person myself and my beliefs run more like Harry's: pure faith in life. I also grew very attached to Susan, and it was so sad to lose her to the vampires.

Synopsis: After a falling-out, Murphy is reluctant to call Harry in for another case, but she has no choice. People are being ripped apart around the time of the full moon, and there are bloody pawprints at the crime scenes. Harry has several prime suspects, but the police are honing in on him! Harry has to stop the killings from the wrong side of the law before the creature strikes again.

Although the characters remain the same, this book has a completely different atmosphere than Storm Front. It's not a bad thing, though!

Synopsis: Harry Dresden is a professional wizard—and he’s for real. Just as he begins to search for a woman’s missing husband, his police officer friend, Murphy, calls him in to help on a “special case”: people’s hearts have been magically ripped out of their chests, an extraordinary feat for any wizard. As he investigates, Harry realizes how deep he’s gotten himself stuck in this case—he may be next on the killer’s list.

This is one hell of a first novel. Jim Butcher is an extraordinary writer, and I'm sure he's going to be huge. The main character is so likeable; it's like he's a friend of mine. I'm recommending this series to anyone who will listen!
