I was pretty glad to be done with this book when I finished it. Maybe I'm just too familiar with the subject to be interested in yet another layman version of the evolution story. I think most laymen would be rather bored with this book, though. Usually I'm better at sticking with it than most people, but this one was a struggle.

I didn't get enough out of this book- not nearly as much as I should have. It was hard for me to really read in-depth since I already had a pretty good idea where he was going with each of the thousands of examples.
It amazes me that he was able to assimilate so much information and processes it without the context that we have for thinking about evolution today. He had no idea for the mechanism of inheritance, which plays such a large role in evolution today. What an amazing person.
