Never was forced to read this in school, so I am doing it now. I loved East of Eden, so I'll bet this one is great too.

God, I love Steinbeck. This is not my favorite, but what an impressive testiment to the Depression. The hard times that Americans have endured should be studied by all of us. In this work, Steinbeck puts his palm smack-dab in the middle of the migrant's of the Dust Bowl era and we do a sort of Spock-type mind meld.
Consider the plight of the migrants then to those of today. . . hmmm. . .
