'Quotes from the Book'

updated...Dec 28, '06    spoilers...n/a

"Wait until tomorrow to find what tomorrow holds."

"It is the nature of love to create. It is the nature of hate to destroy."

"Time isn't...important. All that is required of you is to be in the Now, in this moment which has been given us."

"For want of a nail, the shoe was lost; for want of a shoe, the horse was lost; for want of a horse, the rider was lost; for want of a rider, the message was lost; for want of a message, the battle was lost; for want of a battle, the war was lost; for want of a war, the kingdom was lost; and all for the want of a horseshoe nail."

An excellent second novel in the Wrinkle in Time series. I am very happy with Madeleine L'Engle for not using the same kind of material in this novel as the first. I loved the first, but reading about outer space, string-theory type fantasy can only be taken in smaller doses so one's brain doesn't overload. This was a complete switch to a different science: biology. Now, I'm not a big fan of biology, and when I tried to explain the work to my boyfriend he got very confused. Perhaps because of the way I explained how time goes faster the smaller you get, which is why the cells in Charles-Wallace's body had a very short lifespan, but when Calvin and Meg became the same size they didn't see it. Maybe like how every year to a human is 7 years to a dog? But I definitely loved this book, and I couldn't wait to read the rest of the series.
