This was a really sweet and enjoyable book. It's been years since I've read a historical romance and this one did not disappoint.

DH loves all of Bret Easton Ellis's books and insisted I read this. I don't know how I managed to get through this. The graphic violence was just too much for me. This was a really disturbed book.

Read this back in 2005. I was interested in it b/c I'm currently living in Ireland where DH is from. What a sad and terrible childhood the author had. In some ways things haven't changed. On the outside it looks like a prosperous modern country - but if you need any type of medical treatment or therapy you are out of luck.

I enjoyed this a lot. I loved the book club element and checking out what they read over the years. I liked that the book spanned a couple of decades and we got to see how the women changed and dealt with life's problems.

'Atonement'

I think I'm one of the few people that hated this book. It was so hyped and it was one of the first books in years that I just felt like throwing out. The wordiness and slowness was overwhelming. Then at the end to find out that Briony made everything up and she was just as evil and senseless as her childhood self did me in.
